Our Process — What to Expect — Spring Hill Studios

The Process

From Zoom call to finished song.

Here's exactly what it looks like to work with us on a full production — clear, collaborative, and built around helping your song reach its potential.

Start With a Free Zoom

Every Project Starts Here

However we work together, it starts with a conversation

Whether you're after a single produced song, a multi-song package, or a live recording, the first two steps are always the same — a real conversation, then a clear plan.

A free 20-minute Zoom

A no-pressure conversation to understand your song or project, your goals, and whether we're a great fit — both ways.

Scope & quote

We recommend the right service and give you a clear, transparent quote. Production prices include mixing & mastering; production requires a simple agreement with 50% due upfront. Packages of 3+ songs eligible for bulk discount.

From here, the path depends on what you're making. The steps below describe our studio (produced) song process. Bringing more than one song? We'll map out a multi-song package. Live recordings follow a different workflow — reach out and we'll walk you through it.

Produced SongsThe studio production process

01

Songwriting & song map

Before production starts, we lock the foundation together — finalizing the song's structure, key, tempo, and time signature. A Full Song Production includes up to 5 hours of songwriting time to get this right.

02

Scratch track

We create a song-map worktape (or send you a guitar/piano track) so you can record scratch vocals — even iPhone-quality — to guide the production.

03

Pre-production questionnaire

You walk through a short questionnaire that distills the song's sonic palette, vibe, and feel — references, textures, and emotional target — giving our team a clear bullseye to aim at before production begins.

04

Instrumental production

Using your reference songs, we build out the track — things like keys, guitars, drums, bass, programming, etc — refining it with your feedback until it's ready for your lead vocals.

05

Vocal tracking

Three options: record at Spring Hill Studios, fly Robby to a studio near you, or record locally while Robby vocal-produces live over Zoom — our remote specialty.

06

Vocal editing

Together we choose the best takes (comping), then we handle timing and tuning so your performance shines.

07

Pre-mix approval

Your edited vocals are placed with the instrumental and sent to you for sign-off before mixing begins.

08

Mixing

We mix the song and send it for review — up to four mix revisions are included.

09

Mastering & delivery

We master the song (up to two revisions included), then deliver your final WAV master plus an instrumental version. Your song is ready to release.

Timeline: a full production typically takes around three months once the songwriting is finished — though this varies with scope and scheduling. For the complete details on ownership, royalties, included layers, revisions, and our full step-by-step policy, read our full Production Expectations.

Robby is precise, insightful and careful with details. He went the extra mile to make sure our work was done with excellence. His turnaround time is incredibly quick. Go to Robby for all things music!

The Work

Songs we've helped bring to life

Brooke Ligertwood & Brandon Lake — “Honey In The Rock” (Passion). Legendary choir director Daniella Mason asked Robby to direct half the choir.
Eric Champlin & Haylie Allcott. Our team had the honor of producing this song and connecting these talented artists — over 2 million Spotify streams to date.
Bria Jean — “Communion.” We executive produced and co-produced a live recording with a 34-piece choir, 3-piece string section, and full band.
Katy Nichole & Naomi Raine — “My God Can.” We directed a 50+ person choir for the Official Performance Video.
